My sister was in trouble!【妹が救急車で運ばれた話】

I had this really surprising thing during GW. One day in the evening, this guy called me up and he was like “Are you the brother of 〇〇?” It’s my sister’s name.

GWにびっくりすることがあった。ある日の夜、ひとりの男性が電話をかけてきていきなり「○○さんのお兄さんですか？」と聞いた。○○というのは僕の名前だ。

That’s somehow the most frightening beginning of a conversation from a random guy calling me up. “Are you the brother of 〇〇?” right?

なんていうか、知らない人から電話がかかってきていきなり「○○さんのお兄さんですか？」って会話の始まりとしてはチョーコワい。

Anyways, I was like “Yeah what’s wrong?” And he continued that my sis was being brought to a hospital by an ambulance. She was there in the ambulance.

とにかく僕は「そうですが…なにかあったんですか？」と聞き返した。すると彼は僕の妹が救急車で運ばれているのだと説明した。今救急車の中だと。

And I was so upset that I jumped into a car and headed over to the hospital. The situation is that my sister can’t open her eyes because her eyes hurt.

僕はめっちゃびっくりして車に飛び乗って搬送先の病院に向かった。彼女は痛くて目が開けられないという状況だった。

She didn’t know why that happened. What’s the worse there’s no ophthalmologist because it was in the midnight. So they couldn’t know the specific condition of the eyes.

なぜこんなことになったのか、妹も分からないらしい。さらに悪いことに、真夜中だったということもあり、宿直の眼科医がいなかったので、その場ではそれ上妹の目の詳しい状況を検査してもらうことができなかった。

So they told us we should come again next morning when we can see a ophthalmologist. But I thought waiting for next morning to see an ophthalmologist sounded a scary idea because the next morning my sister might no longer able to see anything.

だから眼科医がいる明日以降にまた来てくださいと言われたのだが、僕は次の朝まで待っててもし目の状況が悪化したら失明するかもしれないと思って怖くなった。

So I desperately tried to look for the hospital where there is an ophthalmologist. And then we found it in northern Kobe. And I drove there. That’s 2am. Next to me is my sister crying because her eyes hurt.

そこから眼科医のいる病院を必死に探した。そしてやっと神戸に眼科医のいる病院を見つけた。僕たちが住んでいるところから約80キロくらいだ。そして車で妹を連れて行き到着したのは午前2時。

When we got there she had an examination and things are settled down. She is Okay now and I’m relieved.

やはり眼科医に診てもらうと彼女も安心したようで、薬も出してもらって一件落着。僕もひと安心といったところだ。
